The Family has successfully passed on their passion for wine from generation to generation for 400 years.

Moreover, Elpidio Arroyo (Grandfather and paternal father of the family today), won a prize in 1948, in the 'Grand Contest of Red Wines and Rosés of the Ribera del Duero'. And Vidal Callejo (Maternal grandfather), in 1951, won First Prize in the Area Wine Competition.

From 1979, Ismael was a leading force in securing the creation of the Ribera del Duero DO, established in 1982. He embarked upon the planting of 25 Hectares despite everyone thinking he was mad. Today, his vines range in age from 50 up to 90 Years old.

In 1992, the underground tunnels were lengthened by about 800 metres as an improvement to the Barrel and Bottle Storage Rooms. In the absence of vibration, noise and light, the wine matures naturally at 11 - 12 º C, in American Oak Barrels. They produce 300,000 litres annually.
