Known previously as ‘Curiel de los Ajos’ (‘Curiel of the Garlics’), because of its great  quality in said product, it is a village of castles. One of those present, is its most representative monument: Curiel de Duero Castle, found on a rocky hill.

Today it is the Posada Real Hotel and the oldest in the Valladolid province. Likewise, the Palacio de los Zúñiga is located in the village. Built in 1410, and there are still remains from the walls of the middle Ages: Arco de la Puerta de la Magdalena. 

Its stately homes, two fountains carved with religious iconography, the Pillar of Justice from the XV century and the historic Ribera del Duero wine cellars should be highlighted. Furthermore, we will also have the opportunity to visit the Ethnological Museum, built on the old washing place.

Religious Monuments

• The church of Santa Maria is of Gothic and Moorish style, but also has a valuable Romanesque façade. Its tower has two bodies, with a spiral staircase. In its vantage point we can enjoy magnificent views of Peñafiel.
• The church of San Martín has been restored as a private wine cellar.
• The chapel of Cristo, near the Pillar of Justice, has a Baroque altarpiece and beholds a sculpture of Christ from the XVI century.

Civil Monuments

• The Town Hall, built by Alfonso XII. On the ground floor, a school from the 1950s is simulated.

Routes to carry out

Until the Altas Pinzas de Castilla, walking through caves and corridors of the Bronze Age. It is the PRVA-9 Route.
