San Juan del Monte is a township with one thousand years’ worth of history. It was founded in the X century by the Counts of Castile from the areas of Osma, San Esteban, Clunia, Roa and Aza. It currently has a population of 200 residents.
In 1843 the village had almost 300 inhabitants. It had two schools- one for boys and one for girls- and life went by peacefully around its economic motor: agriculture. Nowadays, said economic movement is more modern.
