Fuentelcésped is a village in the province of Burgos that has a population of 225 inhabitants. It is found in the very heart of Ribera del Duero, 10 Km from Aranda de Duero and 90 Km from Burgos.
Presided over by its grand Baroque church San Miguel Arcángel (built over an older one in the XVII century). It is a church that has a rectangular floor, three rooms, choir stalls with a Baroque organ, solitude chapel in the northern side, main chapel with a Baroque altarpiece in the presbytery and Baroque vestry in the southern side.
The church is complemented by the chapel of La Virgen de Nava, built at the beginning of the XVIII century by Antonio Garcia and Diego de Arce. The building contains a Gothic image of La Virgen de Nava.
La Fuente Grande- an XVIII century font-, El Lavadero- a place built in the XVIII century to wash clothing-, the humilladero (a stone cross at the entrance of village where people prayed for forgiveness) and El Mayo- a monument found in the centre of the Main Square-, all these monuments should definitely be visited while touring the town.
The majority of the residents have joined the Municipal Vineyard Planting project on the grounds of the farmland. The wineries form a very important part in the town’s cultural heritage: they are the Pascual Winery and the Cooperativa Virgen de Nava, Juan Manuel Burgos Winery and Vineyards, Diaz Bayo Hermanos Winery and the Blas Serrano Winery.
Dating from the 18th century, it was built by Antonio Garcia and Diego de Arce. Especially appealing is the lovely gothic portrayal of the Virgin de Nava. The chapel is built in the shape of a single nave in cross form.
